About the Library

The LaFollette Public Library seeks to satisfy the diverse reading needs and interests of our patrons.  We are happy to assist you in any way we can.

We are the only site in the area to provide the boating safety test for young people. This is an online test and must be taken at an approved location. Call for more information.

Your Library Card

Your library card is issued at no charge after you have completed an application and provided proof of your correct current mailing address. You must show a picture ID, as well as a piece of mail that has been mailed to you at your correct mailing address. A $1.00 replacement fee is charged if the card is lost. You are responsible for all materials checked out on your card including loss, damage, or overdue fines incurred; therefore it is not wise to allow another person to check out materials on your card. Materials may not be checked out to anyone who has overdue materials or owes any late charges.

Please inform us of any telephone number or address changes that would hamper our communication with you. This can be done by calling the library, writing us or sending us an email message.

Library cards will not be issued to children under the age of 14 without a parent’s signature, and a child must have completed Kindergarten in order to be issued a card.

If you are a patron of the LaFollette Library in good standing: i.e., no overdue charges and no late items out, you may take ten books per library visit. as ten items are allowed per library card.  These books may be kept for a period of two weeks, and are renewable by phone.  Late charges are $.10 per book per day, and the maximum amount to accrue on any library item is $5.00.

Fiction is shelved alphabetically by the authors last name, and is listed in the automated card catalog.

Non Fiction

The library has a growing collection of nonfiction books shelved by the Dewey Decimal Classification System. Access is provided in the card catalog, same as fiction. Biographies are shelved in a special area.

Large Print

Fiction and nonfiction large print books are shelved separately.
